Taichung City is a special administrative region directly under the Central Government of the Republic of China. It is one of the six special municipalities in Taiwan and the only one located in central Taiwan.

  With a total area of 2,215 square kilometers and a registered population of approximately 2.81 million, Taichung City is the second most populous city in Taiwan and the core city of the Taichung-Changhua metropolitan area, the second largest metropolitan area in Taiwan.
